A look at where we live in Christchurch. This is the panoramic view from the hill opposite our house. We live in the suburb of Redcliffs which is 10KM's east of downtown Christchurch. Redcliffs is about 10 minutes walk from the sea and Melinda and I often take a stroll along the beach after work.
Our Kiwi 'home sweet home'. Unfortunately we don't have a sea view yet but are working on it. This photo was taken from our sundeck where we have our braais ('braai' is the South African term for barbecue). Our home.
Our first 'Kiwi braai'. Our very first braai together in New Zealand. Our sundeck offers the ideal spot for a "lekker" braaivleis ('choice barbecue'). The braai was kindly donated to us by my Uncle Lawrence Taylor of Knysna, South Africa. It was also the very first 'item' we unpacked when our goods arrived from South Africa.
Mark Peddie and I enjoying a braai. Mark is a jeweler by trade. He lives in Auckland - New Zealand. Photograph taken the afternoon before the Super 12 rugby game between the Natal Sharks and the Canterbury Crusaders. We sure were disappointed spectators at that game...Well they did go on to win the Super 12 - well done Crusaders. Click here for more on jewelry. Mark and Gary braaing.
This estuary is about three minutes walk from our home The estuary opens to the sea and is ideal for kayaking and windsurfing. The Christchurch Yacht Club is also based in the estuary.I haven't tried the fishing out yet (Kevin Spolander and I plan to clean out the estuary 'one day').This photograph is courtesy of Kevin and Naida Sharp (see more of their photographs).
